2008-2009 LMSA Janine Gonzalez MCAT ® Scholarship The Janine Gonzalez MCAT® Scholarship application is now available. This scholarship was developed to assist pre-medical students with the financial burden of preparing for the Medical College Admissions Test (MCAT), an exam that is required to apply to accredited U.S. Medical Schools. The Scholarship consists of a voucher to take a preparatory course with Kaplan, Inc. Personal qualities, financial need, academic and extracurricular achievement will be considered in the selection process. Deadline January 9th, 2009.
2008-2009 LMSA Dr. David E. Hayes-Bautista Undergraduate Scholarship brought to you by the Latino Medical Student Association (LMSA) at Drew & UCLA. An outstanding, motivated, and dedicated undergraduate student will be awarded a $1000 scholarship to pursue a career in medicine. The Dr. David E. Hayes-Bautista Undergraduate Scholarship was established to recognize students with pre-health/pre-med backgrounds who have demonstrated a commitment to improving the quality and availability of healthcare in the Latino community. Deadline February 1st, 2009.

2008-2009 LMSA Bob Montoya, MD Medical Student Scholarship The Bob Montoya MD Medical Student Scholarship is a special project that was developed in 2006 by the members of the Latino Medical Student Association. It is designed to assist medical students in their educational pursuits. Personal qualities, financial need, academic and extracurricular achievement will be taken into consideration in the selection process. The Latino Medical Student Association will award four $500 dollar Scholarships. Applicants are limited to one scholarship award during their medical school career. Deadline February 20th, 2009.

Kaiser Permanente Latino Association of Northern California (KPLA) Scholarship Program KPLA scholarships are for students who demonstrate – through their activities in school, in the community, or in the face of unusual circumstances – that they have the potential to be Latino Health Care Leaders of the future. For 2008, we plan to offer four $2000 scholarships to a current student or Kaiser Employee residing in the Kaiser Permanente Northern CA Service Area.

The stark statistic is part of the most comprehensive and accurate study yet, which was released Wednesday and highlights gaps between the state's diverse population and its physician work force.
