This scholarship was developed in 2011 in honor of Cinthya Felix, a pre-medical student from East LA. Cinthya was 26 years old when she passed away in a car accident. At that time, she was working multiple jobs in order to pay for her expenses and send money to her family. Her dream was to become a physician and return to serve her community. Cinthya graduated from UCLA, where she was instrumental in founding IDEAS (Improving Dreams, Equality, Access, and Success), an on-campus group dedicated to supporting and advocating for AB 540 students. She was also the first undocumented student to attend Columbia University’s Mailman School of Public Health.
