Policy Section

The Latino Medical Student Association invites all students interested in Health Policy to join our membership at the First Annual Student Policy Section at the National Hispanic Medical Association Annual Conference in Washington, D.C., March 27th-30th at the Wardman Park Hotel. Please join us in shaping the future of medicine!

Policy Formation -Debate topics in health policy amongst your peers. Topics include health care as a right versus a privilege, the relationship of physicians with their patients, the importance of diversity in medicine and the need to focus on health literacy amongst our patient populations.

Mentoring -Community and family is important to the Latino medical community. The partnership between the National Hispanic Medical Association and the Latino Medical Student Association highlights the importance of creating an scholastic pipeline through which students can achieve greatness. Students of all ages, from high-school through undergraduate to graduate schools are invited to meet successful residents and attending physicians in one-on-one and group conversations.

Networking -Mingle and socialize with Latino students from all over the country, representing a diversity of scholastic and medical experiences. Meet the future leaders in medicine at both professional and social networking events.
