LMSA is dedicated to changing the ‘Face of Medicine’ and the way health care is delivered in our country. According to the 2004 US Census, 14.2% of the U.S. population, but only 6.4% of all medical graduates are Latino (AAMC Minorities in Medical Education, 2005 Facts & Figures). Though the proportion of Latino physicians has doubled since 1980, there is nonetheless an average ratio of 3,000 Latino patients to one Latino physician compared to the ratio of 335 non-Latino patients to one non-Latino physician.

LMSA considers this a priority. For over 20 years, our membership has continued to grow. However, there is much work to be done. As we review the projected census data for 2050, we find that building a strong foundation in medical training programs is paramount, as 25% of the U.S. population will be Latino. We hope you will partner in our efforts.

Membership Registration Update:

As decided at the LMSA Midwest Conference 2016, LMSA MW has moved to the LMSA National membership dues and benefits scheme. What does this mean? NO MORE CHAPTER DUES paid to LMSA MW. Instead individual member dues will be paid to LMSA National to follow suit with the rest of the regions, and for LMSA MW to be better incorporated into the national organization. Here’s how it works:

  1. Sign up for a national membership through the LMSA National website (CLICK HERE) and pay national membership dues ($25 for medical students)
  2. Of those $25 dues: $5 will go to LMSA National, $10 will go to LMSA Midwest, and $10 will be refunded back to your school chapter.
  3. Enjoy the benefits of being an LMSA National and Midwest member! (Click here to read more)

Along with your payments, we need each chapter to submit a roster of your active members. Please include: Member Name, E-mail Address and Graduation Year. Please e-mail your roster to
