Background:

LMSA Seed Grants
The LMSA Midwest (MW) grant program allows LMSA MW chapters to apply for funds that will be used for programs that are consistent with our core principles, are sustainable, and potentially adaptable to other chapters in the region or the region as a whole. Annually a finite amount of funds is made available to all chapters with up-to-date dues standing. There is no limit on the number and amount of requests for funds. Please keep in mind the whole region shares from this pool and the LMSA-MW Regional Board will use its discretion when dispersing chapter grants. Maximum grant award provided for the fund is $500. Criteria used to judge are included on the chapter grant application.

COVID Mission Fund
The purpose of this fund is to support new or existing COVID-relief related projects and programs in collaboration with your LMSA chapter’s. It is important to recognize the disproportionate impact COVID-19 is currently having on minority populations including a higher number of daily cases and death rates. Increased consideration will be given to projects proposed offering support to underserved populations. Maximum grant award provided for the fund is $500. Criteria used to judge are included on the chapter grant application.

Las Vidas Negras Importan Project Fund
The purpose of this project fund is to continue elevating the movement for Black Lives. This effort includes organizational accountability and individual accountability in amplifying the voices of Black individuals as well as fostering a deeper understanding of racism, implicit bias and systemic oppression. We are expanding our capacity to support chapters and their members in developing and incorporating anti-racist frameworks, healing frameworks, collaboration with grassroots organizations, and advocating for oppressed individuals. These efforts can be in academic or community settings. If you feel your chapter has an idea that falls within this vision, please submit a project idea. Maximum grant award provided for the fund is $500. Criteria used to judge are included on the chapter grant application.
